What is Area 51?
Area 51 is a military airbase located in Nevada. It is a United States Air Force facility. According to the Central Intelligence Agency, the correct name for the facility is Homey Airport or Groom Lake. It is a highly guarded facility and the contents are confidential for unknown reasons.
Why was Area 51 created?
The site was acquired by the United States Air Force in 1955, primarily for the flight testing of the Lockheed U-2 aircraft. It was also used for testing many other types of aircraft like the OXCART (Lockheed A-12) or D-21.
What is in Area 51?
No one knows the contents of Area 51 except the workers of the facility. It has an extremely strong security system which include motion sensors, highly trained personnel, CCTV etc. Although Area 51 is very large, the actual facility does not cover the whole area. The actual airport and buildings are located 14 km away from the entrance. In 2013, the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) released documents regarding Area 51. The security is so high that there are rumours that all personnel are instructed to kill any trespassers. An incident happened in 2012 when a team of 12 people from the BBC tried to sneak into the facility, but got caught and very held at gunpoint for three hours until their credentials were verified.
Conspiracy Theories?
Since the US Government or CIA will not tell us what Area 51 is used for, many people have come forward and have presented many theories that could explain the contents of Area 51 and the reasons for its confidentiality. These theories have made people think what the United States Government is doing behind their backs.
